MY MOVIE WISHLIST: KILLER JOE

What’s it about? “When a debt puts a young man’s life in danger, he turns to putting a hit out on his evil mother in order to collect the insurance.” — IMDB

Who made it? Directed by William Friedkin; written by Tracy Letts.

Who’s in it? Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsh, Juno Temple, Gina Gershon, and Thomas Haden Church.

When’s it coming out? July 27, 2012 (Limited Release).

Why do I want to see it? Because I’ve heard this movie is very dark—it’s Rated NC-17—and I like exploring dark themes and ideas through film. Because I’m a fan of Emile Hirsh, who I haven’t seen in a movie since his excellent performance in Into the Wild. Because this looks like a very different role for Matt McConaughey, and I want to see what he does with it. Because William Friedkin also directed The Exorcist.

How much do I want to see it? (On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being I have to see this or I’ll die and 1 being Okay, I’ll see it if I have nothing better to do.) 4: I really want to see this, and I’m willing to pay good money at theater to do so.
