5 Seasons, 62 Episodes, 1 Amazing Journey: Breaking Bad

On September 29th, TV’s Breaking Bad ended its ground-breaking run. It premiered on January 20, 2008, but I didn’t start watching until 2011 when Steph introduced the show to me with its fourth season. I was hooked immediately. I went back and watched the entire series, and now I can easily say this is one of the best TV shows ever created, if not the best. The acting, the cinematography, the score, the attention to detail, the premise itself—all of these things made the show stand out from every other show out there.

And let’s not forget the action, the intrigue, the danger, the drama, the suspense (the heart-hammering amounts of suspense), the betrayals, the pathos, the humor, the darkness, the fear and, of course, the love; never has love been so misguided and so abused. Breaking Bad was beyond entertaining; it was encompassing.

It was created by Vince Gilligan and written by Vince, Peter Gould, George Mastras, Sam Catlin, Moira Walley-Beckett, Thomas Schnauz, Gennifer Hutchison, John Shiban, and J. Roberts. It starred Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Anna Gun, Betsy Brandt, Dean Norris, RJ Mitte, Bob Odenkirk, Jonathan Banks, Jesse Plemons, and Giancarlo Esposito. I’m so grateful to these strangers (and the many more I haven’t mentioned) for putting together something so singularly spectacular. What a work of art, through and through. I feel lucky just to have experienced it.

And now, my fond goodbye to Walter White and Jesse Pinkman. Yeah, bitch!
