MY MOVIE WISHLIST: V/H/S

What’s it about? “When a group of petty criminals is hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last. ” — Magnet Releasing

Who made it? Directed by David Bruckner, Glenn McQuaid, Radio Silence, Joe Swanberg, Ti West, and Adam Wingard; written by Glenn McQuaid and David Bruckner.

Who’s in it? Calvin Reeder, Lane Hughes, and Adam Wingard.

When’s it coming out? August 31, 2012 (Video on Demand); October 5, 2012 (Limited Release).

Why do I want to see it? Because even though it’s yet another found footage movie, the premise seems fresh and interesting: the movie is like an anthology of the found footage movies that the burglars find and watch—a found footage movie about found footage! Because I’m curious how much I’ll be able to get into a movie made up of vignettes. Because some parts in the trailer look pretty darn scary. Because Ti West (director of The Innkeepers and The House of the Devil) is one of the directors of one of the vignettes.

How much do I want to see it? (On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being I have to see this or I’ll die and 1 being Okay, I’ll see it if I have nothing better to do.) 4: I really want to see this, and I’m willing to pay good money at theater to do so.
